Assistant Child Care Teacher - Mount Vernon, NY

JOB TITLE:                       ASSISTANT CHILDCARE TEACHER                                             


FLSA:                               NON-EXEMPT

LOCATION:                       MOUNT VERNON


SUMMARY:  The Assistant Childcare Teacher provides supervision to children ages 2 months-5 years.  This position is responsible for providing appropriate learning and recreational activities for children in that age range.  The Assistant Teacher is expected to support the teacher/child care supervisor in providing a safe, secure and nurturing environment. Hours are from 8:30 am - 5:30 pm.


  • Prepares and organizes age appropriate learning and recreational activities.
  • Collaborates with caseworkers and other staff to address childcare and other related issues.
  • Tracks daily sign-in sheets and maintains all other pertinent forms as required.
  • Maintains safety standards for childcare areas.
  • Ensures safe, hygienic, well-organized environment at all times.
  • Promptly reports possible child abuse or neglect to supervisor.
  • Supervises and interacts with children during recreational/learning activities.
  • Observes behavior of children.  Identifies and reports concerns to supervisor.
  • Performs all other related duties as required.


The ideal candidate will have experience with training and/or classes in early childhood education or CDA (child development program credential).  Relevant Bachelor’s degree preferred.   Previous experience with young children is required.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must.
